Ok the time has come that friends and I are in need of some powder and primers!!! I know what most of you are already thinking, Good Luck!!!

Normally we can buy all the powder and primers we want or need locally without any problems. But like most of you the panic buying has created such low inventories that nothing is available anywhere.

So this week’s coffee and doughnut session at the locale gun shop I brought the issue up. That lead to a discussion on transportation rules and the HazMat fees that are charged by UPS and Fed Ex.

They claim that a HazMat fee is needed but I’ve never seen a UPS truck with a HazMat placard.
You cannot ship powder and primers together. 2 orders, 2 shipping charges, 2 HazMat fees.
A max of 48lbs. to a order.
You can get as much factory ammo you want without the fees. And they have the primers and powder together. But you and I are not allowed to ship any of it anywhere.

So who made up these rules??? Is this a backdoor way in for the antis??? How is it they can claim hazardous material but are not mandated the use of a placard???

Ok, I’m just on a rant!!! But I have more questions than answers on the issue!!!

Presently I'm almost completely stocked. I only have W-748 and Bullets on order (9mm, .357, .45 ACP). Oh yeh...and some Hornady defence ammunition.

I still have a good supply of the fore mentioned bullets. Just want more...

Here in Oz, you got to leave your details (licence numbers recorded) when you buy POWDER.
But, you only have to SHOW your licence (numbers not recorded) when you buy factory ammo.. As much as you like..

Yeah.. there is something wrong... but well, you need them..

Yea, primers and powder ARE shipped together routinely. If a seller only ships them separately it is the seller's choice and not because of any law or UPS or FEDEX rule.

Seperate HAZMAT for primers and powder is bull. Several companies will ship powder and primers together as long as it will fit in the box they use. Just shop around and you will find them. MidwayUSA is not one of the them.
Try powdervalleyinc.com and others to see what their shipping policy is.

I have bought from Gamaliels and they ship it all together. I believe I have also bought from Natchez, but I can't remember.

I'm getting some new names of suppliers. Thanks guys. Checked Powder Valley. They've got good prices but were out of stock on every powder I looked for.

almost every place i check is out of powder. if you find some somwhere to order some and it's in stock ,PM me and let me know.

Shipping is not even an option here in Alaska, so you get no sympathy from me However I am in pretty good shape, had my favorite gunshop order me 8 pounds of 748 and 1000 primers back in December and just received them last week. That willl keep the M1A going for a while.

I have not yet had to buy reloading supplies on line, I have been lucky enough to pick up all I need at about 10 different shops, I just get dibs and dabs as I can, and have built up a healthy supply of ammo and reloading suppliers.

I am just too cheap to pay all the extra handling charges!! But, I have certainly noticed an increase in powder and primer prices, still not enough to order online.

I also only go to the gunshops and buy there powders and primers. They put them in the different bags, but I put those things in the one bag and give other empty bag back to the clerk. Sombody start to teach me "security", but I say "have nice day" and go out.
PS:I know that I need to learn much mor english.

Ok, they put powder pottles and primer cartoons in different plastic bags. But I will to put those things in the same bag......

Any time I've bought powder & primers, the shop puts all of it in the same bag.

This "Hazmat" thing is a load of old guff for the amounts usually purchased - just a money making condition from the carriers IMO.
