I think it really depends on what type of 2 stroke oil you use. Some of the synthetics like Amsoil have interesting properties than say, Yamalube. Personally, and after talking to alot of engine builders, I've gone away from the synthetics like AmsOil and back to petroleum based products for better lubrication. I've seen several snowmobile engines that have only run synthetics for many thousands of miles, and have rust inside the case... petroleum products are more oily and may require more maintenance in other areas (exhaust valves), but then again, not as many broken crankshafts on real oil). -DallanC |
