My wife has 4 cancers, all origination from colon cancer.

After rounds of chemo, the last on on 1 Nov 2024, she was being prepped for Hipec surgery - hot chemo.

Surgery was scheduled for the 23 Jan - rescheduled by administration.

29 Jan I gave her a cold and surgery was for 5 Feb. On the 4th we were told that surgery was not an option as the cancers had grown, also about 11 month to live. Sad

She had pain in her side and was admitted to hospital on the 5th due to a distended gallbladder.

Cannot remove the gallbladder because they would cut into a liver tumor.

10 Feb. A trip to the city via patient transfer for a pigtail drain into the gallbladder.

Home on the 13th and still have some pain.

Prayers for you, the wife and family. I went through cancer with my wife but we lost her7 years ago, so I kind of know what you are going through

My thoughts and prayers are with both you and your wife Repete.

Cancer is a nasty, insidious disease. I recently lost my younger brother to Pancreatic cancer. I believe the start of this was polyps found in his bowel and subsequently removed by operation. Then it was his prostate…again surgically removed, but the cancer was in his system by then, and there was no defeating it…it simply moved to a different organ each time they operated.

Make the most of those 11 months mate…who knows, it may extend to be longer.

Thank you.

FYI I lost my second wife to breast cancer in 2006. My Dad in 1974.

Deb started chemo yesterday.

Pills at home and then to the hospital for the infusion.

For pain she has hydromorphone. She goes to bed at 2100hrs then has a pill at midnight and then another at 0400hrs.

I forgot to add that she is now under palliative care.

Hang in there mate and be there for her…make her remaining days as comfortable as possible.

Update.

Deb has been in and out of hospital, currenty in over a week.

During my afternoon visit I was told that she isn't going to have chemo anymore due to the pain and nausea.

Not what I wanted to here because Her time will be short, BUT I will support Her decision.

I'm so sad.

Forgot to add that we made and paid for our funerals last year, bought the cemetery plot and the headstone is made and installed.

That’s terrible mate. I think the decision by the Dr is because any more chemo won’t achieve anything other than to cause your wife more grief, pain and nausea…they did the same with my brother.

As I said before mate…be there for her and make the most of remaining time.
