4rum,

That 0-1" micrometer cost me 111$, its pretty good, been using it in shop class and in shop assitant duties and works great. Pretty neat you used to be in the industry what do you do now ??

After a 17 year stint full time Fire and Rescue, I moved to full time 9-1-1 and Emergency Management.

Here is a picture of the tooling I ordered and my dial indicator, less the Telescoping gage set I'm still waiting for. Smile But then agian thats what happens when you order something 2 weeks after a sale on that item and they sold out and need to wait for new stock to come in. Very Happy

In reality thats all my special "machining" tooling, got a bit of mechanics tools and other hand tools but that picture other then my Starrett Micrometers, my digital caliper (a cheapy) and a veriner caliper is all my "persision tooling". Cool

Dimitri, that's cool stuff. If you're like me, when I go to a store, I spend a lot of time in the tool area. I love looking to see what new tools are out that make my projects easier to work on, I'm like a kid in a candy store. Very Happy

I do a lot of shot shell reloading, mostly 12 gauge. There are times when I need to cut open a shell to recover components from mistakes I made. Embarassed I once saw a tool that was available to cut shells for that purpose. I've looked high and low for one, can't seem to find one. I may have to make one.
Keep it coming...

George,

Yup I do spend alot of time in the tool section at a store (actually most of the time I'm in a store if they have a half decent amount of tools thats what I'm looking at), always liked tools. Smile

Now that I just bought a tool box yesterday I'm officially out of "fun" money to buy more toy's (need to keep the rest of the money I got as moving money for after college Cool ). Sad

Now alittle more on topic:

As for the die I'm building its going good, getting all the work done pretty fast. Got most of the parts that need heat treating done today so going to be doing abit of grinding for the next couple of weeks (I only get one shop class a week). Smile

Christmas gift and all. and its in my garage. -10f right now and I don't have a heater for the garage yet. but anyway, with what I've seen of your intelligence and willingness to learn, your only moving up when schools done for ya. just never stop learning. My wheeled tool box is in my garage and is a bit bigger then that and has the top box on it as well with approximately $18,000.00 or more worth of tools in it from when I worked on the bench at a GM dealership etc. Some day you'll have that tool box full "Mitri and there will be many dollars worth in there.

Fireball,

Taking tool and Die making in college. Got honors for 3 out of the 4 terms, and hopefully will get honors this term as well. Smile

bodyalter,

You'll be able to fill up that tool box faster then you think. It's pretty easy. Smile

1895,

Well I got quiet abit of tools already in the box, maybe 2,000$ or so worth. Since I've aready had a few mechanics tools that I've been buying myself. Smile
