I withdraw my post.

I found out that EID stamps has been in circulation since 2001.

This is NOT Obama's initiative.

I eat my shoe! Embarassed

My bad, I should not voice my views before taking in all the facts.

That teaches me not to get involved in religion and racial discussions without getting my facts right.
Shame on me!

Okay I think I am about to open the biggest can of worms ever seen, but here goes. I am SICK AND TIRED of the racist rants that goes on here. Why is it that when a SMALL group of people does something it becomes an all or nothing? I grew up with Muslims and they were sitting there like the rest of us on 9/11 thinking how someone could do that. They are AMERICANS they just don't believe in the same version of the invisible man that I do. For millennium Christians have fought "holy wars" and yet we decide to cast stones again to a whole group when it's just a small portion. It's the same thing we bitch about when a gun is part of a crime and we bitch that the power that be are going to come down on those of us who follow the rules.

As for the STAMP. They've had it FOR YEARS. As in I used them last year and a few years before that. It's nothing new. I came out in 2001.

Muslims have also helped preserve history, advance science, medicine, and math.

And before anyone says it, yes I'm a Californian, and if thinking that we should treat everyone as humans and not judge a whole group by a few than I guess I am a liberal. I HATE it when someone judges me because I’m “JUST A GIRL” or “I’M A REDNECK” or that my family doesn’t have money like my friends did growing up.

We’ve fought wars, some big some minor, to prove that ALL people are equal. Revolutionary war was to show that we were smart enough to think for ourselves. Civil War (while I disagree on this point) in the long run was fought to show that slaves were human. We had the Indian wars because they/we were seen as subhuman and again had to fight for rights in the 1960’s. World War II was in part because of a man/group of people thinking of a group of people as subhuman. So WHY is it still okay to hate a group of people because of their religion? We are suppose to be able to embrace everyone. And now we are casting stones at groups of people because of where they were born (all the rants about the Mexicans) and because of their religion (Muslims).

If you don’t want the blasted stamp get the Christmas one that the other groups don’t want but still allow us to have without major protest.

I agree with both Tinks and Gelan...live and let live. However, if you do it for one...then you do it for all. Treat them all equally...that is the Christian way.

Edited 2 Nov 2009

Like Gelan, I too have Islamic friends, and they are good people.

Yes and Christians have done the same thing thru the years. Look at most colonial views of "convert or die" theory in the "new world."

And the Islamic view, from what I have studied, isn't jus against Christian, they are equal in the conversion. While some take it to an extrem.

And I love how most people who have prejudice/racist views call on the "I have friends in ......." which ever group they are talking about at the time.

Racist rants here? This forum is rated G when it comes to racist rants compared to most boards on the internet.

The Corwin Amendment and MS St. Louis is all I need to say about that.

Due to the Muslim take over of the Western Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire), and due to the take over of the Holy Land. Never mind the Muslim continuous expansion into Europe at the time both from the West through Spain and from the East. Everyone likes to talk about the crusades and how "bad" they were. No one likes to mention the wars were going on for longer "in the background" that started before and ended after the "Holy Wars" to prevent the Muslim take over of Europe that don't get mentioned anymore in the average high school history textbook.

Its not okay but the issue with Muslims dates back centuries and its still fresh in the collective memories of a great many countries in this world. Many countries have fought recently, are fighting and/or still have tensions with Muslim countries and populations, before the American GWOT started.

You cannot judge people based on limited facts, that goes for both sides (the racists and the people who are against the racists). Both sides of this are wrong, and neither side will admit to having to rethink what they believe.

Really at the end of the day, we are all created in the image of G-d, and we are all living on the Earth he provided for us. To hopefully live life with as little interference as possible, but as we all know this is not a prefect world due to the actions of man.

Just trying to say both sides are at fault in some way or another. And like I told one professor it's based in sibling rivelary between the religions and it won't be ending anytime soon.

I think where my problem is coming from is that I'm knee deep on the recieving end over here. A few stupid English teachers/G.I.s do things and we all get looked at like we were the ones who did it. Having people move on the subway, hold their kids closer, or blow by you with a taxi and pickup the "native" is just getting to me.

Its only sibling rivalry in the eyes of Western Judao-Christians that have not lived through the conflict. I'd try to condense history but in simple terms, claiming the Islam/Western conflict to be religious in nature, and therefor its a "race/freedom" issue is a lousy excuse for people to try to justify wanting a "peace" for a war that has been raging for 1,500 years. The conflict needs to stop but that method will never work.

As for your situation, has less to do with previous peoples actions and more to do that as a whole the human race (no matter what their skin color or religion is) is Xenophobic, and they will come up with any excuse to shut out other people's cultures/religions from there lives.
