yip that got your attention!!! Bought the kids a shotgun the other day. Single barrel .410 baikal. I already have a .12ga the same for them to graduate up to and my brother in law has a 7.62x 39 the same as well. NO I didnt cut the barrel off this time. I put the butt off my old 12ga on the 410 and took 35mm off the butt then put a wee thin plastic butt plate back on. the kids can handle it ok now as it was too long before. It fits dad too which suits me down to the ground as I blooded it on a bunny the other day I had forgotten how much fun the wee guns were.

took the kids out to try shorter stock today. it works great. set them up over shooting sticks at 15yrds with 3ltr milk bottles {plastic} for target. we were using reo 2 1\2 inch shell with 3\8oz of 7.5shot my boy hit one real sweet put holes all over bottle most went right through but the suprizing bit was the plastic wad went into bottle aswell!!!! cant wait till we find a bunny to sit still for him. if not we may have to get out the moonbeam and find some possoms.

yeeeea haaa the lad dropped his first solo mallard tonight. I was taking the pack of decoys out to the road when 2 fat mallards came over him. he got a shaking on the duck caller and brought them right in. He fired as they had the flaps down and they hit the water before taking off again. I saw one go down again 25yrds away from him and retrieved it for him. Man was I a proud dad. he he heee now the little fellas got to pluck it...

It sure looks small but the individual pellets have as much power as the bigger gauges, just not as many pellets.

Elvis - some great father-son time! He's a good shot. Being proud of your son reminds me when I would take my son shooting and trying to work with him on sight alignment and trigger control. Thought he was doing ok but thought his groups could be a bit tighter. Then he went to Boy Scout Camp for a couple of weeks the next summer. Came home with a blue ribbon for being the best shot in camp. No other kid was even close! Yep, a father's pride.

Yup- smaller gagues require better marksmanshp! I do love the size diff in the pic though between the bird and that little wand.

took the lad and the dogs out to the beach to get out of the house for awhile and see if we could bag a bunny. we both had our single barrel baikals I had my old 12 and he had the pop gun. we came home with 4 canada geese instead !!!! and yes the wee 410 raked one of those big birds out of the sky so thats another milestone for my boy.

How did you have a free hand to bring the guns home?

(Elvis, we are getting used to seeing pictures like before)

Elvis, it seems that you are in very good company. I'm a little jealous. You have dogs AND a mighty fine son.
I can only say: "Hold on to these moments!"

and when you're 103 years old, he will take you out (and you can carry that little .410 Smile )
