Future feather fetcher fer sure!

Man I wish I had a yard for a dog.

You all are truly blessed to have room for the tail-waggers to roam.

well guys today was a red letter morning for sure. I got up at 6 and took the wee dog out leaving my main dog at home. we headed out to a local spot to see if any ducks were around.500 yrds from the car we were peering over a bank at some teal(off limits) when a skien of canadas flew over head. I managed to peel 2 of them out of the sky into a pond and our wee cocker spaniel made his first 2 retrieves. man was I stoked. I took the birds back to the car and carried on. Next up we spooked and shot a beautiful spoonie drake again the dog retrieved much easier than a hory great goose!!! then came a double of mallards. retrieved fine no fuss no bother just out pick it up and swim back for a pat. then I dropped 3 mallard drakes 2 in the water and 1 on the far bank. the first 2 no dramas. then after a few lumps of dirt thrown to show him where it was he went into and across the water picked up the bird and with heaps of encouragement he swam back across the water and I helped him up the bank. to say I was pleased would be a under statement. that third retrieve was something my old dog wouldnt do for 3 seasons. as far as she was concerned if its on land go get it yourself dad. we shot another 2 on the way home before I ran out of cartridges. woo hoo I reckon this dog is gunna hunt just fine n dandy!!

Every dog will grow up to resemble its boss. So getting a good hunting dog says something about the dog but a lot about its boss... well done!
And when you love your dog as I feel you do, you're always welcome here.

(but here roebuck season opened yesterday, we have to wait till September to hunt ducks. My 1 year old cesky fousec (see avatar) still has to learn everything about ducks and water)
