Bit of an update on the camels.
The Government reckon on 1 million and there is a program in place to cull them. I don't think there is that many and running around the country like I do bears this out. Cost at the last time I heard was $560 per head for the cull.
I have a couple of stations that I do culls for and I can do it with food and fuel for $120 per head.
Depending on what strikes my fancy when we go out anything over 30 cal is good. I used to use my 270 wby with good results but use my 308 win mostly.
I am off over Easter to cull 50 head and will use the 300 win mag for a change! Although any yarded animals are dispatched with a 22 - back of the head and down they go.

I have tried it - back straps are OK on the younger ones but usuall bring back meat for the dogs - makes them fart like hell and really pongs but they love it!

Missed the hides bit - no left on the animal. To keep the hides the best and really the only way is to take them off in halves due to the hump.
