Suz,
I took the truck to the car wash and got all that nasty blood cleaned out of it...
I keep my long-range rifles set to hit point of aim at 600 yds. and have drop tables made in 50 yd. increments out to 1,200 yds.. All ya gotta do is range it, dial it in and pull the trigger....

That takes care of gravity but there is that little variable called wind that isn't so little at those ranges. My hat is off to you for mastering that skill.

A single shot action is stiffer and can contribute to better accuracy. Even a little bit of improvement is of value at longer ranges. Sorry, stating the obvious.
