Another case of hug-enomics for those poor helpless Cubans. We're the only country in the world that has an embargo against Cuba and for some reason we're the cause of all their misery. Victims we need to rescue and apologize to. The waves of Cuban refugees are flooding Florida to visit relatives? Sponsoring Soviet nuclear missiles is ok now? Well I guess from studying China and Vietnam relations (in a quest for liberalization we opened up trade) the people of Cuba can now look forward to less freedom of speech, less freedom of the press, less religious freedom and more political prisoners. There....we helped out pretty well. He's closing the door on them by not engaging in what the people of Cuba want. He thinks some American hotel and hamburger joints will make them all happy and prosperous. Look at the possibilities! Lots of work for the unemployed! Nine dollars a month minimum wage ain't too shabby but at $108 a year whata ya gonna do with it all? Car parts is top of the list for some.
Roberta S. Jacobson, (the assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere affairs) in a briefing with reporters, she described a process that could rapidly lead to a full restoration of diplomatic relations.
“That process is relatively straightforward, frankly, from a legal perspective,” Ms. Jacobson said. “We can do that via an exchange of letters or of notes. It doesn’t require a formal sort of legal treaty or agreement.” Sounds like a familiar Obama routine to me, sure let's do it that way. Congress has better things to do, like get the Republicans seated before we go whole-hog on any more of Obama's my-way-or-the-hiway crap.
Senator Robert E. Menendez, Democrat of New Jersey, said the president’s changes were “clearly intended to circumvent the intent and spirit of U.S. law and the U.S. Congress.”
There ya go in a nutshell, don'tcha wanna hug?
Where to stick
the cigar....
