So I got my orders today on stage 2 of my AIT I'm going to interning in a army hospital near El Paso for 40 weeks. Since my ait is so long I'll be getting weekends off- I was wondering do any of you guys live near there and know any hunting Ranches that I could possibly rent a rifle or hunt at?

I used to fly into El Paso and drive up to Holloman AFB to work. There are rabbits all over the desert out there. You may also find hunting opportunities in the mountains near Cloudcroft NM

I have spoken with CCI and a couple of powder manufacturers and they tell the same story.

There are twice the number of gun owners that there was in 1970.
The manufacturers are not selling more ammo to the military and police.
The ammo and components are being bought up by the public faster than ever before.
The manufacturers thought it was a panic buy situation that would end quickly but have since realized that there is a much larger consumer base for ammo and components and have invested in more production through more man-hours and more (new) machinery.

They are catching up and they will meet the demand but it is going to take time.

I like a good consperacy theory as much as the next guy but this one is just plain false.
Bambam restricted the only things he could without congressional support - surplus military arms and ammunition. It will go away when your representatives show their disagreement - if they do.
