Thank you. I was impressed with the 20 cal at that range. It's a Remington 700 that has been worked over by a smith, bedded action, 24" 8 twist Bob Jury stainless (Cerakoted) barrel chambered 20 Extreme. It really likes the 8208 XBR and I am so happy to have scored an eight pounder (to further supplement my stock - I don't hoard) of it.

ok greywolf you got me now...... which .20cal are you using???? a .204 Ruger??? or what????
I load for a chap who has a 6.5mm/.204 thats a 6.5mm pill out of the wee stretched case and he getting mid to high 2000fps with 100-123 grn pills
he shoots quite a few BIG bull thar and the odd red deer with it,most impressive what correct bullet selection and placement can achieve.

Wow that seems to be stretching it a bit. 204 UP to 6.5! I guess that's why it's so slow. What is a Thar? I agree that placement means a lot.
The 20 Extreme is a design of a local, to me, fellow that necks down the 222 Remington to 20 cal, the case is slightly shortened from 1.700" to 1.575". He was getting close to 4200 fps with 32 grain pills and I believe I was getting about 3400 with a 55 grain.

ok so its a short .204 Ruger!!!!!! Scratch Scratch Scratch Scratch
you could have gone with over the counter ammo and loaded it down Confused Confused

my Buddy is even worse in that he got another rifle chambered to .22/.204 so it is plurry near a .222 magnum Embarassed Embarassed
and he doesnt reload...thus me loading for him,he finally got press etc but when I went around to get him started,no shell holder Mad Mad Mad
oh well he will get it sorted one day...as for a thar tahr ..Himalayan mountain goat that are here in NZ and are the Kings of the mountain......amazing where they will go,they would leave your big white fellas for dead and 99% of pro rock climbers couldnt follow where they run.
a big bull will go close to 200lbs but a nanny 100lb tops.

Still need my .270 to reach out and touch elk plus some of my shots on deer can be out to 350 yards. The 6.8mm with the 110 Accubond can do that but .270 is better suited and I prefer the extra insurance when going for a big buck.

My priority that day was engaging a sounder of hogs which the 6.8 is king at. Next Saturday, I'm going to try again.

Kind of a neat looking critter - you eat them? I guess I could have said it is a 20-222. got the fast twist to be able to shoot the heavier bullets. I have another that I had built for Yes Dear. Built on a Savage Axis XP, 18" Benchmark barrel, 10 twist, fluted on the Savage youth model synthetic stock. It was built to be the porch gun, something light (as light as I could get it) so she could handle it. Sadly she is far too weak now to be able to use it. It shoots 40 grain Remington Accutips very well over 18.6 grains of H4198 giving about an inch groups at 150 yards - which is more than adequate as the sight lines from the porch don't offer much more than 100 yard shots. Sort of what do you call ... minute of coyote accuracy. I will likely use it as a tractor gun this summer.
