No it is a mule deer we get some strange one once in a while, My mom shot a doe that had horns . We have only white tail and mule deer here. Every now and then you will see a white or black deer here.

The only Doe that I've seen was all female except the antlers. The game department said it was a legal shoot because it had antlers. I seem to remember that in the deep past it was seen more often but because the antlered does were shot more often it became a recessive trait because those without antlers bred longer. I know that some cattle have horns on both genders - Highland cattle can be sexed by the shape of their horns. The cows have horns that go out to the sides while the bulls have forward facing horns.

What a cool but wierd rack. That bladed edge only shows up on older bucks... and he does look 3+ old. Odd he didnt go wider or taller but that could be the dominant genetic there.

Still, congrats on a nice mule deer!

PS: that open range land looks cold and windy!
