Lots of H2O in Germany, even sink holes. Unfortunate that there are many dead and missing.

Chances are they have very limited power and internet over there at the moment. Fingers crossed Aloys and his family are all OK and only have no access to the internet.

Sorry, had a lot of work to do this week. Had to fight some water in my cellar, but no big problem. Most of my time I was building a home for my new hunting-friend... I hope... maybe when a man gets old enough he becomes a new nut? Yesterday I stepped into a new world for me when I brought Sibelle home. I think she already likes me and my wife is not angry at all... Sibelle is a Redtail hawk/buzzard/buteo, born on the 1st of May this year.
So not the rain nor the water was my biggest challenge...

thanks for your interest, but don't you know that "the best go first"? So it will still take a while before it's my time Smile

By the way: rain was very bad in the South (french-speaking) part of Belgium, Germany and the Neterlands... and now in Austria.

Whew...He's O K.

That brings up another question. You occasionally tell us the the south speak French. What is the language of the north?

Good to hear that you are OK Aloys…the weather over there had us all pretty worried for your safety mate. Not knowing exactly where you are in Belgium stopped me from doing a search for flooded areas.

I’m with Slim mate…really looking forward to seeing some pics of your new partner Sibelle.

The North speaks Flemish, which is realy close to the Netherlandish's language, just a little bit softer. In the East they speak German. In the West they speak a dialect that Swedish people would understand. And in Brussels they speak everything including Moroccan.
Lucky most of us also speak English Smile

Do you understand now why we have more governments and more politicians than anywhere else in the world?
And I think that to solve this problem they invented Europe with perhaps the only government in the world where your net salary is higher than your gross salary.
And the result?
We would vote for Trump too...

And it seems that at the end I might also have to learn how to post a picture here because my Sibelle is a real beauty (with the mind of a German teckle I think!)

Aloys, is that an American "Red-tailed hawk" or a European? I've always thought falconry is interesting but never had time and $$ to pursue it.

A Red-tail is American, so it's exotic in Europe. But my Sibelle is born in Germany. A friend brought her from "Greifvogelstation Hellenthal" for me. You can visit their site, it's lovely and more than "just birds of prey". I'm sure I'm going visit that place in the near future. My friend (and mentor) is giving them a helping hand occasionally.
Pumpkin, I'm sure you will love it too. But it seems it's easier to get a gun than to start as a falconer in the States...
