My brother used the same training rifle in cadets back in the '60's. (.22 calibre) I had a MK IV that never missed, period. Unfortunately it was destroyed in a cabin fire at my older brother's cabin or I'd still be using it. Best moose hunting rifle I've ever owned, it fed my family more than one winter. I swear by them still. To the original question, Gil's advice is exactly what you need to do.

Grant,

Lucky dog! That is a great find! Probably worth about as much as the avarage car all of that. Shocked

As for the 22 Trainer neat find. Its a No. 7 I think Confused

I've got to be honest I dont know much about the variants of Enfields. I can pick out a No. 1 Mk. III, a No.1 Mk.III HT, a No. 4, a No. 4 (T) but I couldn't pick out different Mk's etc just by looking at them. Sad

We took lead bullets and manually pushed them through all the different rifles and measured them. They range from .311 up to .314. The .314 were a couple of the older rifles, but most were .312.

Interesting Grant, didn't know that, always been told to get good 303 British Rounds you needed to reload with .313 as that was the proper size. Smile

Guess when I get myself a Enfield I'm going to have to slug the bore. Smile

About the loads. I always just used a 180 gr Win, I believe they were .312 but never bothered testing, wasn't broke wasn't gonna fix it, y'know

My one 303 shoots the 180 grain quite well. Until I run out of 180 grain bullets, 150 to go, I'll keep using them in the one #3. Then I'll resight it in for the 174's

Dimitri,

Thought you might like to see all the #4 Snipers rifle and gear. Tough to get good pics of stuff that's nothing but military green, but here goes. The directions on the scope case and the contents list for the snipers rifle case are neat.
