Anyone hunt PA gamelands? I hunt in the northeast and the deer heard has dwindled to the point that you are lucky if you see one deer in the woods. I use all my vacation for hunting and I go as remote as you can here and still hard to see any deer. Wonder Why the game commission opens all the roads up so there is no remote areas? For access I presume but it is all accessable if you want to walk to it!!!!! Just looking for oppinions on this subject......Disgusted in PA here. Mad

Howdy Haven't hunted pa for a few years. The south central area was pretty good then, Bedford Co. Breezwood area, Fulton Co Gladfelter pulpwood co's land exit 12 off of 76 I believe near a boy scout camp. I quit huntin in potter Co years ago because of the same problem your having now. Chester Co is good not much state land though. What part of pa are ya from ?. I live only a few miles from pa.
Joe

Hi Joe, I am here in Bradford County, and usually hunt Barkley Mountain. State lands 12 and 36. They are pretty cleaned out now though. It doesn't help that just because the Game Commission gives out up to 3 tags per hunter that we should go and shoot 3 deer. It's our own fault too. Len

I lived in PA all my life untill august of 2006. Hunted a lot of state game lands in the south central portion of state. Bedford, huntington, fulton counties. I always had decent luck down there but the last few years things were getting a little slim also.Did get 2 bears on PA game lands. Gladfelters started leasing out their ground to hunting clubs so a lot of ground I hunted is closed to me now. I dont agree with PA's current philosophy on deer management. No matter, I have plenty of area to hunt up here in Alaska.

They open up area's because of pressure applied to their bosses from Insurance company's paying off new cars that have been totaled from hitting deer.

Yeah that's it. I heard the insurance companies did that. I drive all over rural roads and never hit a deer. Maybe the careless drivers should foot the bill and then they might care and drive a little more carefully. Also heard of a coyote shot with a tag in the ear with a 1-800 # on it. When called, the lady said she couldn't give out any information but to contact the PA Game Commission for more information......???????????????? The woman also stated that State Farm purchased a # of coyotes from there......

Mad Hunted Pa all my life (35 yrs. hunting) Daphin, Juniata, and Perry county's. What has been done to Pa's State Game Lands is criminal. Still plenty of deer where you can't hunt them.

I have hunted in Pike County for the past 15 years on private land. On opening day I would normally see 20-30 deer. Last year I saw 0. I think they are trying to get rid of the deer in AL the same way- take all the does you want

Anyone hunt on PA gamelands 36, Bradford county? I can't believe what has happened to the deer population!!! I've hunted this area for years, but haven't had a chance to get up that way for the past 3. It's a tough spot to get into, however in past years, it's always worth the effort.
I spent 4 days on that mountain seeing very few deer!!! Three small Buck ( No shooters) and nine doe. That was between 4 of us and we had just about the whole mountain to ourselves. Pretty pathetic.
This doe slaughter has to stop!!!
Anyone experence the same thing thing in this area?
