Does anyone have a list of all the wildcat cartridges based off the 30-06? I want to find a receiver to make a 280 and any cartridge based off the 30-06 will work. This will broaden my options when looking for the receiver.
Thanks in advance for the help.

What you seek includes a LOT of cartridges. More wildcats have been made on the -06 case than anyother and I doubt anyone has a total list of them.
If you seriously want to find as many as possible, get a copy of "The Handloader's Guide to Cartridge Conversions", John Donnalley, and look them up.

I've found that long actions w\ standard boltfaces is what you're after factory barrels will be marked 25-06, .270 win., 338-06, 35 whelen. and the .280 would be there also. but then you wouldn't need to re-barrel it. I've recently used a weatherby vanguard (howa) to build a .280 Ackley I picked it for the extra long mag box, but a savage would be an easy job for any gunsmith familiar with bolt actions. Mostly I think you'll find .270 win and 30-06 spfld's the norm out there, just stay away from magnum boltfaces. Maybe asking whoever is going to do the job if they have any preferences would be a good start. Gunsmiths get partial to actions for different reasons and usually do a better job an the ones they are familiar with. For instance some win mod70's require extractor cuts on the breech and they may not be tooled up for that.
