I know this has been discussed before in the name of politics but I can't help but wonder if we shouldn't ask Dallan to reconsider !!!

In the wake of current events and a president that has made his intentions very clear I suggest a "Gun Legislation" forum discussion take place.

What I don't what to see is a general political forum.
The intent of this forum if created would be to discus gun legislative actions within various governments. (foreign and domestic)

Thank you for your time !!!

I like your idea Chambered.
This is a critical time for us gun guys.
I sure don't want to see what happened to our friends in Australia happen us in the USA.

I second Chambered's idea Dallan.

I have misgivings about a "gun legislation" forum or topic.
Those kinds of things have been known to drive wedges in communities like ours. Your views on what constitutes a threat might be different than mine and while I doubt anyoneone here is as ... "hyper-sensitive" ... to gun legislation as I, it would be a shame to disassemble our family over differences in political views.

I tend to agree with Paul. Two things that are no good to discuss are religion and politics. Both are a sure way to spoil a friendship.

We are able to discuss these issues within the General Forum and it suffices for that purpose. While politics and religion have proven to be touchy subjects in some areas, there is a very good group of people here, level headed and not so opinionated as to be unwilling to accept the fact that others are entitled to their own opinions.

Well I thought it was a good idea, until I read the responses...then I just thought well if you don't want to read a certain area, it's pretty easy to ignore it, and what's wrong with that. I don't think we need a special area for the subject simply because if the issue comes up and you don't want to participate or you do want to chime in, it's all up to you, you decide what you want to do. Frankly I think being as it is makes it easy for everyone and actually encourages participation whether positive or negative.

That's what arguments and discussion is all about, hearing both sides is the only way to get an informed opinion. There's nothing wrong with someone not wanting to participate, but if you're upset at someone because of their ideals and opinions it then becomes an issue of introspect and understanding that really nobody is going to have your same feelings on a subject and you just need to accept that. This is not a place to fight. If you can face diversity head-on and accept that diversity exists then you just have to choose what you want to do with your opinions. Through them out there for all to see or keep them private.

When I first got on here (the first forum I ever joined) I had a lot of internal trepidation to get over and you guys were wonderfully accepting. I'll always have you guys to correct me and I appreciate that so much. I'm only an authority on myself and I'm not too informed on my authorization. We get the experiences of everyone, through it into the hat and pull out the rabbit. (why is mine always 3 legged, I'll never know).

I saw this request when it was first posted and wanted to think it over a bit ... I kind of feel as PaulS, it can become a deeply divisive issue.

ATM, I think we let discussions run in General. If enough people feel over time it warrents its own forum I will create one.

I am ALWAYS open to suggestions and comments, so let'em fly Smile

Problem is, every infowars, or other fringe site will end up being posted here on a regular basis under the guise of gun control politics. At least that is what seems to happen on every other website I frequent. Confused

Ok this post is Off Topic

There are big difference in the fundamental laws of Oz and USA.

In Oz we have NO RIGHT to bear arms, or arm bears for that matter (imagine Koalas with guns).
The Govt have the final say on the issue of gun ownerships, we can bitch all we want but the privilege to own arms can be revoked at any time.
This is the left over laws from the old colonial days where majority of the population are supposed to be convicts, and convicts do not have much rights back then.

Yanks, OTOH have the Second Amendments that gives you the RIGHT to bear arms.
Again back in the colonial times, the majority of the immigrant are entrepreneurs and freemen, thus enable them to influence theirs rights in the law.

Back on topic,

IMO it is better off for the H'NUT not to have a dedicated political forum.

Also, IMO this topic is more suitable to be placed under our SPAM-O-RAMA umbrella.

Gelan, not to criticize but you suffer from one misunderstanding there. The Second Amendment only recognizes that we already have the right to be armed, as do ALL free people, it does not "give" us that right. Our Constitution is intended to limit the central government, NOT the people. Obviously we've strayed from the original intent but it is not forgotten by those with any understanding of our history.
