Went to the NRA Convention in Charlotte today. Pretty neat exhibition area! Also saw Ted Nugent, Larry Weishuhn (deer hunting guru), Jim Scouten (Host of TV shooting show) and Michael Bane (Another TV host). Had my hands on a $9,500 rifle (Merkel double barrel .30-06)! If anyone wants to contribute toward it just mail me a check...

While at the convention I had the opportunity to speak to S&W historian Roy Jinks who corrected what I'd been told about my old S&W revolver. It is not a "Model 1 1/2" as I'd been told, it is correctly called a "Model .32 Single Action". Mine was made in 1878 and yes, I had to shoot it at least once!

It looks similar to the "1 1/2". That is in great shape.
I've got what I believe is a 1.5 from my wife's family. It is beat! Pitted all over, broken spring, loose hinge, broken wood grip. Patented in 1859.

My neighbor's son went to the convention. Haven't talked to him yet.

What was the latest talk at the convention?

Actually we spent our limited time in the exhibition hall and didn't hear any of the meetings. Everybody seemed pretty upbeat though. According to the Charlotte news they had something like 70,000 attend, and about 10 anti-gun protesters.
