tcknight mentioned his interest in the .260 Remington in another thread but I decided to start a new one instead of hijacking the first. I've written an article for HuntingNut about my Ruger Compact in .260 and posted pics of my Rem 700 in .260 so I thought I'd post a pic of the pair. I've become a .260 fan because its combination of adequate power and mild recoil. Who else has one?

I'd have one right now it I hadn't sold me Rem 700 in .308 last year. It would have made a good platform with a new .260 barrel. Sure could have gone the distance to 1000 yards+!

Wow, just noticed how compact your Ruger Compact was!! Or is the barrel on the Remington just real long?

I am pretty jealous about now. Smile

Good looking guns Mike.

I really don't understand why Remington released such a great round and only chambers the Model 7 in it now. It's either rebarrel something you have now or go out and buy a .308 and have it rebarreled right off the bat. Mad

Anyhow...I want one!

That looks like a BIG yellow poplar you got those guns leaning against too!

Had I discovered it before the 7mm08 there's no doubt my Model 7 would have been chambered for it instead !!!
Don't get me wrong, I love the 7-08 and have no regrets.

If I could find one used in good condition I wouldn't hesitate..........you just don't find Model 7's used all that often. If you do they usually go for a premium.

Ok I could've posted this picture as my .260 Rem. but its too dark to actually see it. This pic was taken 3 days earlier and 10 miles west of hers.

My older sister is an excellent hunter/shot and her and her husband farm 12,000 acres in eastern CO. That is the kind of hunting access others can only dream of. Smile

Very nice your .260. I debated a few years ago about building one. Wound up building a 6MM instead. Still may have to build a .260 though. They sure are nice. Very Happy

This is the only photo I have of my Remington Model Seven in .260. Absolutely love the .260!

Heeeey, I like that Ruger! Very Happy
I really like the .260 Rem and the 6.5 x 55 Swede. They seem to produce results way out of proportion to the bore & case size. Very Happy

What loads are you using from your .260s? I've been loading 120gr. Barnes TSX bullets over 45.5gr. of H414.
