Yep and they're good deals .. I shot mine up a few years ago and bought one of the $50 recons .. No problems , unless I shoot it again ..

From the conversations that I have seen here regarding the Chrony brand chronographs they seem to have a problem with partly cloudy weather. Having the sun shine directly on the screens seems to make this problem worse. I have never owned one and with the two chronographs that I do own I probably won't be buying another.
I am wondering if there isn't a shade that will work to either minimize or eliminate the problem.

Wouldn't be too hard to jerryrig something. A couple of brackets on the sides, some metal supports bent to shape, some opaque plastic shades fitted to the supports....be just like a bought one. Very Happy

With the abundance of expertise I've seen amongst the members here I'm sure that this would be a very easy project for those that wish to do it.

Cheers, Vince

Chronys come with a shade, almost exactly like Vince is describing.
One trick I've heard of for Chronys, that I keep meaning to try, is to put some translucent Scotch tape over the sensor ports on the chronograph body. Should keep dust out, too.

One thing I'll say for Chronys -- they're rugged. I've shot mine twice already, and it still works. (Fortunately, I missed the electronics both times.) Shocked

After that, I got a pistol rest. Razz

Can't say I've had a problem with partly cloudy days, but it doesn't work so well near dusk.

They are real sensitive to shifts in the light .. They do make an accessory shade as Jack says to help with the issue , but that 's an issue all Chrony's have regardless of brand ..
