I woke up to rain rain, beautiful rain…cooling everything down at last, and it feels beautiful. I went for a patrol around my yard at 7:15am, wearing just a pair of shorts, listening to the Green Tree Frogs calling to one another, it was amazing and so cool.

We had the hottest night in 7 years on Friday night…well into the 30’sC all day, and still at 29°C (84° F) at 1am with the humidity over 85%.

I’m so over this hot weather…it seems the older I get, the less I can tolerate the heat.

Skivie shorts…that would be underwear to us…no way would I go out in just my jocks mate Shocked I don’t want to be responsible for anyone getting sick. Just a pair of exercise shorts in the rain…it was wonderful.

pleased you getting a bit of God given moisture to sooth the parched earth mate... been a tad dry around here too and the temps are in high 20s most days, rolling into 30s at times too..what kills us is when the norwest wind joins in..sucks moisture out of ground faster than it can be put in,even with irrigators going flat out..and the heat is intense enough it warms up rocks just under surface so much they cook the grass from below...took me years to get my head around how the farms around here work...paddocks full of rocks get heavy rolled till they sink below surface, then grass is planted and watered and cows eat what grows and add to soil out the other end..all good till it gets hot.
careful how much rain you ask for though..looks like other bits of the country are getting a soaking plus....

I’m happy with the rain where I am mate, but then again, we don’t really flood here. I feel sorry for those in flood prone areas though…they suffer badly. Why in hell bloody property developers (I hate them with a vengeance…there should be an open season declared on them) are allowed to build on flood prone areas, I’ll never understand. They argue that there is a flood only once ever hundred years…doesn’t matter, a flood is a flood, and their once in a hundred years flood happens 4 or 5 times every hundred years. It’s all about money to developers, nothing more, nothing less…and it’s the poor buggers who buy the houses, without knowing about flooding, who pay the price.

Welcome back on board the good ship The Nut mate. I’m surviving, but with this heat, only just…it’s really sucking the guts and energy out of me…I just wish I could afford to run air con. If you don’t want the snow mate, send it to me…I’d love the cool. Apart from sweltering here in the heat, I’ve not been doing much. A little fishing and still trying to develop a load for my SMLE #5 Jungle Carbine that it will shoot around 1-1.5 MOA at 100m. How about you mate, how are the wee ones doing? How is work? Do you expect any nasty Spring/Summer storms on the lake this year?

Yep, sure is mate. It started raining about 10pm last night, and here it is 7:50am and it’s still raining. Only complaint I have is I intended going to the Range today for some recoil therapy, but with about 5km of dirt road to traverse, it ain’t gonna happen. Plus the targets are very light cardboard (thick paper) and there’s no cover over the target area to stop the rain destroying the targets.

So I thought, maybe I’ll go fishing…fish live in water, so rain isn’t a problem for them…but then I remembered my spray jacket won’t even stop fog or a heavy mist let alone rain. Damn, even fishing is out of the equation.

Maybe it's a sign... it's the time in the year to annoy your wife a little bit... Smile
