Now that looks damn fine indeed mate. I've never been a lover of laminated stocks, but I must admit, that one looks good.

This calibre has me intrigued and looks very interesting, so much so that I am wondering if it would be useful in my lineup of rifles.

very very tidy work as always mate...and I for one just love "plywood" stocks
those velocities arent to be sniffed at thats for sure. bet that middle load will be a winner on deer sized game and will be devistating on anything smaller.

Thanks guys, glad you like the rifle...

Pete - I didn't mount a scope on it, so no groups. I have already boxed up the rifle and sent it to it's new home...

I did come up with these velocity figures -

Sierra 110 gr. Hollow Point - 2,800 fps.

Nosler 125 gr. Ballistic Tip - 2,762 fps.

Hornady 155 gr. A-MAX - 2,618 fps.

Way beyond a 300 BO. Does a 16" .308 do much better?

I have never shot a 16" 308 but I have shot a couple of 14" barrels in 308 Winchester, and no, they did not do any better. The only thing they did offer was a LOT MORE muzzle blast and recoil!

Maybe I missed it somewhere but...

I can see the performance difference in the 30x357 mag and the 30x357 MAX, but what are the differences in the actual cartridges?

you should be able to poke 125grn loads out of .308 at over 3000fps and 110s up to 3300fps thats data from 60cm barrel...24" give or take.
data from nick harvey manual.

The difference in the mag and max cartridges is 27 & 34 grs. of H2O
and 00.315" case length and 40,000 psi for the mag and 48,000 psi for the max
I suppose this is a close comparison (less the rim) to performance.
