A friend of mine sent me these pictures. Thought you might like to see them

They wrote:

"Took these photos coming home the other day. This is right off County Hwy O in Portage County, just north of Junction City.
This is a piebald fawn. It was my good fortune that it was young and stupid since I was able to get within 10 yards of it.
It ran a few yards (Photo 6), I walked up again and took one last broadside photo before it ran into the woods."

Certainly an attractive young deer, a photographers delight.

Cheers, Vince

Great pics! I've only seen one while hunting. Watched her feed around, bed down during a brief rain shower, then move on afterwards. Real special to see them. Thanks for sharing them.

Never seen a deer like that, if I did I'd probably let it go even if it was within range, would be too busy taking out my digital camara instead. Laughing

Took one with a bow a few years back. They are not uncommon here.

I saw some pix a couple of years ago of a moose with hide like that, I believe it was in Newfoundland. I've never seen either in the flesh.

White/Albino moose in Ontario are protected (only other place they are protected is Newfound Land as far as I know), can't be hunted because they are "special" well not really special geneticlly or anything just its special to the Natives traditions and its good for "eco-tourism". Confused

That can't be the case in Newfie land though Dimitri, the moose isn't native to them and they killed off all the natives about a hundred years ago. I think I saw some pictures of albino moose in Alaska as well, a few years back, but I could be mistaken (it's rare, but it happens Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy )
