Very good...

ByTheWay. That Stevens M240 runs from $155.00 to as high as $650.00 depending on condition.

Just got back a little bit ago from the smith and he did a complete inspection and told me the gun is "A" shape. He did say that it would be advisable to replace the coil springs for the firing pins just to be on the safe side. Other than that, he found a stock off another old stevens and it didn't quite fit, close but it was about 1" from butting up to the heel of the receiver. The smith is a good friend of mine and he is 82 years old now, and don't want to push him. So we started looking online and came up with one at Numrich and ordered it.

Thanks Bushy, this ones a keeper and it should be a good bunny buster.

Got the stock on Tuesday, and rough finished it as it still needs just a little more work where it meets the receiver. Maybe one more coat of polystain to make it a little darker to match the forend stock. Look out bunnies.. Very Happy Very Happy

Omni, it looks still a little bit straight, maybe now it's still easy to bent it a bit lower. Remember: the barrel shoots but the stock hits!
Maybe put it on top of another shotgun and compare or measure the drop. I had to have the stock of my Beretta bented for almost 1" before it became a hitting-machine...

Now when you're shooting the .410, you've got to take them at shorter distances, meaning being faster and a good fit will help a lot.

I'd treat that thing to a color case hardening and a nice buffing of the tubes. Dont scour away the roll marks!

Mate the inletting then maybe stuff the gip/butt in a steam cabinet and maybe add a touch of drop and cast if ya want. I like em straight (paraalell) they hit a smidge higher so ya can float the bird on the bead more and I getta better weld that way too..either or just me I'd leaver straight ya gotta pretty tall stack there so that equates to head lifting if the tubes are in the way but Aloy has a good point for measure the drop at the heel.

I llllike it. I want it! Very Happy

In as much as I don't want to take his thunder, but this is a show and tell of what you stol...Aah...picked for next to nothing.

Look what I found at a garage sale. I got it for a dime and a song and I can't sing. That's my Colt 1911 just for sizing the little guy.

Tore it apart, cleaned and inspected. Found nothing wrong with it. Ran 100 Fiocchi 35 gr XTP/HPs through it without even a hic-up. Looks like it will make a real neat "boot gun" or any other place you might want to hide a weapon. FIE Titan .25 ACP.

I know...Mouse gun, but it might come in handy when I'm at someone's home and they don't want me to carry in their house. At least I could use it to fight my way out to my pickup to the the .45.

Fun little shooter.

Yup...Bet you would. Seeings as how the cops in your area know as a "BIG gun" man this just might fool them. It's about the only thing you could carry without notice although I carried a Firestar most of the time in the USSR of C.

Cops out here aint hard to fool. If I dress like a thug/dirtbag they leave me alone and I can drive like a maniac and whatever. If I dress nice and look conservative I look out of place and they get nosey.

That is sweet OV1...a nice little .410 O/U fun gun...ya lucky bugger.

I agree with Stovey on the colour case hardening and buffing mate...will make it look like a new gun mate. I reckon nothing looks better than a well done colour case hardening job on receiver.

Not going to comment on the fit of the stock mate...still learning all about that for shooting clays. One thing I have to save up for is a "pad plat assembly" from Braun Stock Positioning Systems in the USA...will allow me to adjust the fit of my stock better. The length of pull is spot on so a wee "twister" is all I need.

Cheers, Vince
