OK, shot my new ruger target 10-22. It likes bulk remington. Bulk winchester is faster but isnt consitant. Federal is ok. Remington is almost subsonic as you can see the bullets going to the 100 yard target. You know where the bullet will hit before it does. No target pics, but rems will shoot small enough to cover with a dime at 25yards. The others wont. Out of 10 rounds maybe 2 flyers. I'm gonna try remington subsonic rounds next and see. The rifle dosent like winchester match as it will only group 1 inch at 15 yards.
Now, on to the remington 700 270 wsm. Load is 135gr Sierra MatchKings. 60-64grs of IMR4831 in 1 gr increments. Winchester cases, win LR mag primers with a OAL of 2.740. After inital bore sight, proceded to shoot for groups at 100yards. 62 and 63gr groups were touching. 64 gr group opened up to about an inch. It also had slight pressure signs of cratered primers. Although nothing like the factory winchester supreme rounds. Most def a keeper rifle. It is note worthy to say that after shooting 22lr's and 30-30's, when I touched off the 270 short mag, my shooting partner said "Holy sh1t. That thing is loud."

Might want to try CCI Mini-mags too. They come in two styles. 36 grain HP and 40 grain solids.

I got great accuracy from Wolf Match Target, and a T/C Benchmark, but it was twice as expensive as the regular bulk stuff. I'd blame the high and low shots on me.

There just aren't any rifles that are as finicky as .22 rimfires. What one will like is pretty much guaranteed to not work in another. Find the right combo though, and most will shoot brilliantly. The group below is from my 10-22, but my friend's nearly identical one scatters the same ammo all over the landscape! You are doing it right by trying all the variety you can find.

Federal Lightning? Really? I have never got a group that good in any rifle with that stuff. Agree though, you have to shoot a bunch to find what your rifle likes then buy all of that lot you can find.

I have a Ruger 22 charger that likes American Eagle 38gr hp and CCI Stingers. I also shoot some Rem 36gr hp through it and it seems to shoot them just fine. My 10-22 carbine seems to like just about anything but Stingers. I just got a brick of Winchester Xpert22 36gr Hp that I am looking forward to trying out for the first time. I have never really patterned any of these so I am not sure which ones work best through my guns, I just know that my 10-22 and 22 charger has killed a lot of grouse with anything I have put in them. The acception as I mentioned before would be the stingers in my carbine since it took 3 shots to hit a grouse i was shooting at around 40 yeards away. I usually shoot them in the head and ended up with a body shot that was pretty messy. I will let you guys know how the winchesters do when I get a chance to try them out.
