I think we're looking at a major shift in how nations work from a time of representation to a time of regulation & repression.
My generation might well be the last for some time to have tasted freedom & seen its passing.
If it all comes to a head then who knows where humanity's future lies.... Sad

Paul, we can argue all we like, but because we don't have a Bill of Rights and a Constitution, and definitely nothing ever remotely like your Second Amendment, we are at the mercy of our Govt and the bleeding heart, touchy feely, warm and fuzzy, tree hugging, kumbayar, gay rights, animal rights minority groups who pay big dollars into the political parties coffers to get their own way and to push their agendas.

We can argue all we like mate...but these do-gooders have the ear of the politicians and there is nothing we can do about that. Unfortunately, when it comes to emotive incidents, then the politicians "go for broke" to secure voters for their next election and emotive decisions are made appropriately.

Having said that mate...I will never give up without a fight...as will many others I know.

Those in the UK are beginning their long fight to get their guns back. I watched a news video the other night on a protest march that was triggered by a proposed ban on fox hunting - NOW they realize that it is time to get back what they have lost. In the interviews they kept saying that the Americans are right to fight for their rights and that they are going to fight for theirs too.
Since your country might be going to a republic perhaps I should send you a copy of the new constitution that I am writing that better defines all the rights and eliminates politicians almost completely. You could get it spread all over the place and maybe end up better off than we are.
