It maybe an old cartridge dating back to 1915 when Charles Newton designed the 250-3000 Savage. The original load achieved a 3000 ft/s velocity with an 87 grain bullet. And Mike's grandson Nat is here to say the old round is just as good today as it was back in 1915.

"Nate with his whitetail doe taken with Nana's 250-3000 Savage. Nana might not get her gun back!"

Keep up the good work Mike and Nat.

Clint

Clint

The savage M99 250-3000 was the first rifle I owned back in the late "60's", it was given to me by my grandpa and have since passed this down to my oldest son. This rifle scored my first deer in 1971 and scored the first deer for my son back in 2000.

Kudos to Nate on the deer!

well done!!! looks like young fella is off to a great start.
funny how the "old" asks from a calibre are back in fashion...take .224 we have guys putting fast twist barrels on now to do what the .22 high power savage did years ago handle heavier bullets
or what about the humble old .32/20??? isnt that just what we are asking of our trail boss loaded .30 cal rifles???

It's all due to having one great grandpa who belives in the old ways and teaching them right.

Thought maybe he was Daniel Boone , "shot him a bar when he was only 3", I think that's how it goes.
