wtf I can kinda maybe somewhat understand the concept in a shotgun but a 9mm !!!

I didn't see much in the way of how the round penetrates. Is the "chain" so strong that it retains all the componets, e.g., if only one piece of the triad impacts the target, do the other wrap around it. If all three impact the target, does the "chain" limit the penetration. Cutting paper is not that impressive.
