Just curious, how many of you travel out of state to hunt? How many states do you hunt each year? Is price a issue in your decision?
I pretty much just hunt 2, Utah and Wyoming. I am thinking about applying for Colorado tags but not sure if its worth it to spend a solid month running from state to state.

I'll be going to Idaho to elk hunt this fall for 10 days and when I return to Michigan I'll be hunting whitetail deer.

I only hunt in Maine, but I hunt my own lot (in northern Maine) for 3 weeks of the month of Nov and then go downstate to hunt for 1 week where the deer are more plentiful. I used to hunt Vermont for a week every year, but since I bought my own woodlot, 8 years ago, I spend most of the time at home. BTW, if anyone is interested in hunting in northern Maine, we can talk. I have a hunting camp and would welcome anyone who would like to join us for a week. This year we will be at camp from Oct 29 thru Nov 5. All the best.....

Howdy. I hunt here in MD and hunted PA for a lota years in bedford co but the farm was sold so lookin for some new land in pa. My dad is going back to NC to retire hear in the next month so i may hunt NC as well. Md has such liberal bag limits for deer( i can shoot 36 a season) i realy don't need to hunt other states but i do like road trips . It's nice to get away some times.

I hunt some where every year. Out west , Montana ,Texas , Canada.
I have been to Africa,. This year it will be Mexico after Coues Deer and
Desert Mule Deer.
Maryland is very tough to find private land to hunt on.
When you hunt public land it turns into a pumkin patch at day light.
orange people every where.

Blaserman,
Good luck on your Coues hunt, I am a big Coues fanatic myself. I hope you get a nice one. They sure can be a lot of fun to hunt. Do you plan on hunting with a guide down there, or do you know somebody with some land?
Oh yea I wanted to mention that my Avatar is a Coues that I shot a few years back!

I hunt in South Dakota. Private and public land. I pretty much stay away from pheasant hunting early on, just to many people all trying to limit out. We like to hunt waterfowl, deer, antelope and usually make at least two Prairie dog trips.
Come october it's freezer filling time.

KNIFEBOY
I am using a outtfitter , who has been in busness for 20 yrs.
Last year they took a 134 deer off this ranch. I am looking to take his average deer which is between 90-- 100 inches. I will be very happy.
Also I am looking for a Mule Deer 28-- 32 inches wide.

Finding enough time is more of an issue for me than cost in hunting out of state. I hunt in Pennsylvania and have gone back to Colorado for mule deer and elk. I have open invitations to hunt pheasants and deer in Minnesota, deer in Michigan, waterfowl in New Jersey. You get the idea. I still need to work for a few more years. I have enjoyed every trip out of state, just don't have enough time. All the best...

Doesnt PA have elk now? Or is it just Kentucky thus far?

My only suggestion here... do it while you are young enough to do it and enjoy it

I live in NJ. Have hunted deer, waterfowl, pheasant, and hope for a place to hunt bear here. Public land here gets a bit crowded. Scouted some public land last year about 1 1/2 hrs from home. There were fresh deer signs at the other side of the WMA from where I was told they hunted deer. Opening day only 2 veh. in the parking area, packed in to the place I picked, get set in my climber only to see hunter orange through the trees less than 100yds away. For safty sake, I packed up, went home and scratched the place off for hunting.
I shot a Russian boar at a place in PA. My brother lives on MD's Eastern Shore where I got my first deer last fall during muzzleloader season. Went with him and his buddies for the 1st time to Quebec in May for black bear. They are talking of a hunt for deer and hogs in either GA or SC next year. Don't think I'll have the money for that one.
