Nice truck. If the 6.4 is as good a performer as the 5.7 you definately made the right choice for a gasser.

Before I retired we replaced all of our big gassers (8.1) with diesels. We had four different specs dependind on towing requirements as well as other factors.. We ended up with four different trucks, a Ford 450, a Ford 550, a GM 3500HD and a Ram 5500 with a custom towing platform. I took them all out with a 14,000# 5th wheel and put them through their paces on the same stretch of highway and rural roads. The results were that the GM accelerated better in all conditions, the Fords gave the best ride and were roomiest inside or at least felt that way. The Ram was second in acceleration but was the most stable and had an incredible stopping ability. While all were fitted with tow/haul transmission controls, turbine brakes and four wheel disks the Ram just stopped faster.

I have Silverado 2500HD FWD with the 6.6 Duramax that I bought during the 2008 GM sales storm. I did a lot of research on the 3500 DRW versus the 2500 SRW? The only difference besides the second wheels were the number of leafs in the rear suspension and the rear axle bearings. As a result I took the 2500 and upgraded the tires from 245's to 265's and added Timbrens to the rear. I tow a 14,500# 5th and the truck has no problem with this load. I only miss thr DRW when it gets windy as the SRW reacts to side load a bit more than I like Judicious use of the trailer brakes keeps things steady. Other than that, the only change I would make is to convert the trailer brakes to electric/hydraulic.

Enjoy your new wheels.

Mac, if your happy with your 2008 you'll be even more impressed with the current offerings. The updated frame and LML engine (2011) has an obvious upgrade in stability and power.

Wiersy, get that bumper gaurd/cow catcher yet ???
