I'm thinking about getting a couple guns reblued. One is a Rem1100 shotgun thats had one heck of alot of use and abuse, the other a browning .22 takedown thats also suffered alot of sweatly palm use pursuing the mighty jackalopes. I refinished the .22 and it looks nice except for the metal which is pretty good but needs a good reblueing.

I've used some of those "do it yourself kits" over the years on my shotgun but I'd prefer to just have it all redone the right way for once

What do blueing jobs cost normally?

Howdy. I dont know if you use someone local but gander mountain can do about any thing you want from standard hot blue/teflon/camo i think the standard hot blue is around $150 + shipping. There web site describes all there services hope this helps.

I just had my 870 Remington 28 ga reblued by a fellow in Oklahoma. I stripped the gun and took it apart before I sent it to him. He charged me around $90 plus shipping. He did a wonderful job on my shotgun and I would let him do any gun I own. I can get you his name and address if you need it. A phone call would probably tell you all you need to know.

Don't reblue! A really good blue finish is a wonderfull thing to behold but they are expensive. For the guns you have, a number of modern alternatives are available that are less expensive and much more durable. I have seen a number of "reasonable" blue jobs and even if they look OK they wear quickly. It took me a while but I have learned to like the mat finishes on working guns.
