Dillon's Precision offers these and they are reasonably priced. In talking to our sales rep at Dillon's, he mentioned the volume of sales and the very small number of returns. Two shooters I know use them and attest to their value, so, I anted up a few bucks and bought one to replace an ailing PACT (14 years old and much used).

The CED is small and very light. I opted for the nylon carrying case which accomodates a tripod with some exterior mounting straps. While made in China, I am, nonetheless, impressed with the ability to register each and every shot under a variety of light conditions. When comparing it to an Oehler 35, (I stacked them one behind the other), it registers within 2% consistent which could simply be the deviation caused by distance. My Shooting Chrony is about 8% off the Oehler.

The CED comes with 2' screen spacing and is adaptable to 4, 6, or 8' with the mere toggle of a switch.

If you are considering a chronograph, I recommend checking the features and cost of this brand.

Handloader, Does this Chrony have its electronics in the out front housing or in a wired remote, like the Shooting Chrony. Also does it carry a life time warranty Very Happy like most of the other Dillon stuff.

Thanks

It is more like the higher priced units with screens out front and twenty feet of wire to the computer and read-out.
I like to keep my screens fifteen feet out in front because it makes it easy to correct recorded velocity to muzzel velocity - five yard increments!
Its not a bad price at $175 but all those accesories add up quick. The active IR screens caught my interest - shooting in no light or indoors would be a lot easier. I had to make my own light source for my chronographs. not too hard but it takes time to get everything just right.

rrogacki: Paul S answered the first part of your question. It's not a Dillon product, rather something they source and sell. I'll look up the warranty and make sure, however, even with outsourced items from many manufacturers I have always found Dillon to stand behind what they sell.

I'm doing some testing and comparisons between 44 Mag and 45 Colt in several handguns and ran 220 loads through the CED today. It uses a 9V battery and the useful life is much longer than other chronographs I have used. So far, I have about 1,000 rounds through the CED and it is still using it's first battery.

I purchased mine from Dillon also. As always, great people to do business with.
I have used the CED Cronograph for several years now and it has not failed me at all. I have the UV screens and found that when using them I do not have any missing shots in a string. I also paint the bullets black with a permanent marker to keep from confusing the sensors with reflections from the bullet in bright sunlight.
The features are many but for an old geezer I like the large numbers on the display screen and for the blind it will also announce the reedings if you like.
You can get a full discription of the unit at RSI. RSI has a good price on CED packages, related shooting software, and Pressure Trace. All at this link.

The CED warranty is two years limited. Limited to defects and does not include abuse.

There is a 30 day money back warranty as well.

If you are considering one, I recommend the optional nylon carrying case as it is compartmentalized for all components of the chronograph and keeps things nice, safe and tidy.

Handloader,

It sounds like a good deal, I have yet to buy anything from Dillon that I am unhappy with. I think you talked me into buying the CED and carrying case. Does anyone reccommend any of the other accessories ??

Just the UV Screens if you want to spring for the extra dollars. They work great. If you shoot archery and are curious about arrow speed you would need a wider spacing on the screens. The info for which extra mounting bar lenght for archery is on the RSI Software site.
