Can't say I like the idea of the spare magazine on the same side as the hand that holds the pistol - going to cost time & effort, possibly in a situation where both are at a premium.
Certainly when shooting practical pistol, my magazine holders are on my right & my pistol holstered on my left (me being of a sinister nature...).

I carried my mags on the right side that was faster for me in reloading, because my weapon is on that side.
