PaulS,

Tell me something who will front the bill to replace all transport trucks, SUV's, cars, buses, planes and the like ?? Confused

That is the main problem with other energy sources it would cost so much to convert no matter how good it is you wont get it off the ground much. Smile

Personally I think all new cars and light trucks should be electric, with batteries that would last a good 24 hours of driving before needing to recharge. Only way to get our dependence of oil out is to force it on people sadly enough. Sad

And then we must built tons of nuclear power plants to supply these new cars with power. And get rid of coal and gas power plants at the same time. Smile

What you think ?? Confused

Dimitri

Sounds good to me, I'm sure they have the technology right now, they just have to figure out how to make the most profit off it first. Money talks..

Mr. PaulS...Got a question for you on your proposal of light trucks to be electric. I own a 1/2 ton extended cab 4X4. This is a "light truck" in your opinion? If so...How do you expect me to pull my horse trailer with an electric truck. I am quite familar with todays electric and electric/gas vehicles and they couldn't pull an ant out of the ditch let alone pull a horse trailer on level ground let alone up a mountain road. Mind you...I'm all for improving/saving the environment, but we need to find another way. My 1999 Chevy 350 CID has much improved gas milage over the '72 GMC with a 350 CID. But, anything less and me and my horses would have to stay home. By the way...What would you do with the hydrogen gas produced by discharging batteries.

I have been looking at the options and figure that we have over 300 years of oil and coal left and we need to spend more time improving the use of this comodity. For starters any polutents that autos put into the environment is unburnt fuel. This can be corrected and in some cases has. Compressed gases have a 98 %+ complete burn rate and will produce the power to pull horse trailers. The cost of turning all fosal fuels to gas is a little prohibitive at present, but can be done and cheaper with time. Only problem would be the "eco-freaks". We might put them out of a job...Never mind. They would find something else to complain about now wouldn't they. Cheers

P.S. The Americans are already advertizing 97% less sulphur in diesel fuel and that is the main polutent in diesel fuel.

Bushmaster,

Only way to please the "Eco-Freaks" is if the human race died off completly as nothing people do seems to be ok to them. Shocked

Yes. I know "Big D". I still keep trying to out live them though. I've learned that the healthy life style tends to shorten the life span. All that worrying about the environment can't help. Too much worry about ones health causes ulsers for one thing. And jogging causes heart attachs (that's why God invented horses) And I don't believe all those health foods are that good for you anyway...Give me a big juicy beef steak, mashed potatoes and gravy (I put a pat of real butter in the mids of all that gravy too) a vegetable and apple or cherry pie with a big dallop of vanila ice cream on top and chase it with a good whiskey after dinner....Yeah I live like that...Let's see now...64 years old, 140 to 145 lbs., Colesterol 190 (good colesterol right there with it), calcium right on the money, Blood presure 120 over 70, heart rate dead on (bad choice of words) and no ulsers. Yup...I just might out live them granola crunchers yet... Popcorn

Bushmaster,

You don't weight much. Shocked

I've got a clean bill of health as well, and I make it a point to have meat as the primary part of my diet. Very Happy

Dimitri

Hey Bushy....I think I just put on about 25lbs reading your little snack menu there. Very Happy Laughing Very Happy Laughing

But I'm with you. I think that there is far too many additives in food these days...hormones, antibiotics and other unhealthy stuff.

As for oil...well, who knows where it will all end....one thing I know for certain is that the oil companies will continue to promote whatever is profitable for them and suppress things that take away from their profits.

Cheers, Vince

Yep I agree, we'll be stuck supporting Oil Co.'s for a long time yet. They can pretty much do as they please right now. Sad
