I've seen at Remingtons websight that the 788's were made in left hand. Has any one here ever seen one? I've just bought a 7mm-08 and a 6mm at a gun show. They shoot realy good and thought I might find a lefty some where.

The 788 is a fine shooter. I have one in 308 with the 18 1/2 " barrel. I'm not left handed so I have never looked for one left handed, but as you said rem says they made it, in two calibers 6mm and 308 I would think they would be harder to find the 788 is quite popular now adays. I don't think you can go wrong with any model 788 Very Happy .
Joe

My brother has a lefthand .308 that he bought in the mid 70's. They are an odd lefty as they still eject out the right side. He hasn't used it in years but would never part with it. I saw a short .308 at a gun show here on saturday, they were asking $525.00. Does anyone know where I can get a new barrel for mine? I don't know how many thousand rounds I put thru that gun but I would still like to use it for deer.

You might find a take-off in a gun shop but it would be easier to go to a 30 caliber blank and have it fit on your gun. Unless you want a target barrel new barrels are inexpensive. The 788 is proof that some guns shoot better than they should for the money no matter what.
Rear locking lugs, a creepy dragging trigger and inexpensive construction throughout and it still out performed some of the 700's. Don't get me wrong - I like my 700 but the two 788s that my brother has had will shoot with it side by side day in and day out. Fine guns in economy clothing.

Hi Southpaw, I am also a southpaw and I have always had luck with finding Remingtons through Bill @ Lucky dollar guns. He is based out of Craven and travels the gun show circut.
I have not seen him for awhile now so I am not sure he if he is still doing this.
I know another guy that is a lefty and he lives in Francis Sask and if you like I can check with him to see what he can find.
