Life without biscuits and ground pork [white] gravy? Or maybe ground beef? Or chopped bacon? First thing that comes to mind?.....Hell.....!!

Biscuits and gravy...ok guys, you are gonna have to fill me in on this one. What kind of biscuits are we talking about? I have this vision of your everyday biscuit that you have with your coffee, soaked in gravy. wtf

I LOVE a slice of fresh bread with plenty of butter and gravy poured over it...a great way to use up the remaining gravy after a nice roast.

Cheers, Vince

American biscuits are made like bread but with baking powder instead of yeast which makes them kind of hard but still soft as compared to normal biscuits like British digestive biscuits.

Atleast the ones I had had a white sauce based gravy made of milk and flour with broken apart into bits of sausage.

I know I over simplified but I was too interested in eating it then anything else. Smile

Think you did a good description, 'Mitri. Needs a few drops of tabasco sauce & a liberal sprinkling of black pepper to give it some zip though. Mostly a country dish, seems to disappear when you get to the big cities. Found a McDonald's in WY that served biscuits & gravy. Laughing

Biscuits and sausage gravy is a main course for breakfast on weekends for us, along with fried eggs, bacon (or a thinly sliced steak), along with sliced tomatoes, jalapeños, and cantaloupe.

Sometimes we'll substitute a side order of cornmeal mush (for all you southerners, this is similar to grits, but is made with the ground whole unadulterated corn kernel-like you use for cornbread). I'm not really sure what they do to corn to make grits, but it’s not the same.

We believe in a hearty breakfast.

Besides, we've got to do something with the eggs, beef, wild hog, along with all the fruits and vegetables that we raise.

This past two weeks, I dug, cured, and packed away enough sweet potatoes for the year. I also store regular potatoes, and onions in storage. Everything else is put up in my three freezers.

My wife mixes sliced sweet potatoes and sliced Irish potatoes to make French fries or German fried potatoes. It’s great like that.

D,
I like your new photo.

Guys, you better keep your daughters from looking at the forum! They'll be wanting to make a trip to Canada! LadysMan

Cary,

Thanks for the compliment but they'd have to go through Eric's daughter as he seems to want me to marry her. Laughing
