Will it ever come back?
Yes...........but- only after:
We close the southern border and finally get rid of the leeches flooding in from from there FOR EVER, ban shite from China and give them the finger, stop wondering how "WE" look in the middle east's eyes and finally stop wiping the worlds butt over there thanklessly, become an Industrial nation again- not one that relies on cheap imported goods (including food- back to China here) and start over making things- big tings, heavy metal things the world can use, not pushing stupid little buttons with useless college degree given fingers on opperators that could not change a light bulb w/o someone else doing it for them, much less use a lathe.
There is still Hope for Her.
Why?
Half this nation didn't vote for Oblammy. And I got 20$ that says the half that did not vote for Mr. Barrak could kick the crap outta the half that did in a fair fight any day.
That's why.
Screw calculators and PC's. Bring back slide-rules and Osciliscopes.

It's been a long time since I read "The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" but it seems to me that the basic causes were:
1 - The citizens got lazy, spending too much time on entertainment and wanting the govt to take care of them.
2 - They let in too many "barbarians" who weren't integrated into the society.
As I sit around watching a TV program about how we should respect the "rights" of illegal immigrants I wonder if it could happen here...
(That was supposed to be sarcasm!)

Aah, but think of the education YOU will get while there. So many Americans that have not traveled to other countries and had to work with their system have no idea as to what they are talking about (Stove pipe). A lot of what Stove pipe said is true, but we still must maintain a world growth view. This planet has grown too small to have it any other way. We can not turn into ourselves (isolationism). Oh I know...A lot of people have traveled to other countries, but as tourists and that teaches you nothing. Enjoy your stay in South Korea and learn how they live to better understand why we like it our way...

I'm truly learning what other countries go thru. We may have our problems but they aren't that bad. I mean 3 trips to fill out Visa paperwork because the guy kept forgetting to tell us stuff. And now I'm off to Japan and then back again in 2 days to get my visa, and then I go back for my alian card.
I think people do need to look outward to see and understand what is within.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.
