I know that the Democrats anti-gun crap has caused panic buying here in the States(I call it shooting yourself in the foot)but what is the reason that 8lb kegs of Varget are going for $450 to $600 on GunBroker? I was told by our local reloading store that Hogden has quit making Varget in 8lb kegs. Is it true? Whatever the real reason it is quite disturbing.

Varget is very popular and very hard to get these days!!! So of course there are those that are trying to profit big time from the current situation. Shocked

I seriously doubt they will quit selling #8 kegs!!! Although they may have done something temporarily to make adjustments in their manufacturing.
But then again it might be someone else’s way of gouging the consumer!!! Mad (You get a discount for larger quantities)

GUTS and Chambered...Varget is actually made by Thales (previously the Australian Defence Industries or ADI) here in Australia.

I checked their website and they still package AR2208...marketed as Varget in the USA....in 4 kg (8.8 lbs) containers. If it is not available in that capacity any more, then I would suggest that it is a decision made by Hogdon for whatever reason.

Cheers, Vince

Our last powder shipment a week ago had three 8lb kegs of Varget. Our store price, $176. Too, we received 40 one pound containers. All Varget was sold out in two days.

Hodgdon are smart business people. They realize that this crazy bull market for ammo components will be short lived. They are limiting their 8lb sells because they don't want people overbuying powder. They are afraid of the bust that will last several years after everyone reloads off of their supplies they bought during the boom years 2008-2012(the years of OZbama). As soon as OZbama is looking for a new job, 8 lb jugs will be aplenty.

Hodgdon just received a rather large quantity of Varget that should hit the market soon!!! (along with other powders as well)
