The Monroe Road shooting range here in Allegan Mi is in danger of being closed PERMANANTLY. Funding in this state for the DNR is short and athey are the ones who keep the grass mowed and the garbage cleaned up. They also maintain the shooting benches. On more than one occasion I have picked up brass, shotgun hulls, target reminants (wood frames etc.) we now have a new Idiot who is shooting at glass bottles. The DNR has posted a notice that if the clean up of the shooters "what you bring please clean up and remove" policy continues on this course the range will be closed. Please, Please when you go to the range take with you what you brought when you leave. This spring after the snow melted I raked up and disposed of over 4000 shotgun hulls and 500 pounds of clay pigeon reminants needless to say DISAPOINTED........................

I’ve been around shooting ranges pretty much all my life!!!
It never ceases to amaze me at how ignorant and disrespectful some shooters can be, even after warning signs and rules are posted clearly that can not be missed.

I confronted a guy shooting a big rock one day after hearing his bullets ricocheting and zinging into the trees behind the backstop.
His response was “I don’t like the kind of gun your shooting either” (I was shooting a bolt gun he had an AR and a mini 14)
Believe it or not I was speechless!!! Shocked

Yep- same's reason there's no more open USFS ranges here....idiots, mostly inner city scum would tear them up faster than we could restore them. So the forest service closed them as they attracted to many jerks.
Only 3 public, private run ranges left out here w/in a 100 mile radius.

I'd see shooter's like your's 221, and, just leave and come back later. I won't even begin to get into it in the field unless I have a LOT of back up. Too much room for error, no plan, no cover and no element of suprise.

And I don't believe for a second you were speechless. Smile

Good on you and yours Savage, for making a diff. Get more volnteers and keep up the good fight. Cool

When I confronted him it was more or less a friendly and courteous gesture of letting him know what was happening and he automatically assume that I had issue with his choice of guns.....
That’s why I was so dumb founded and yes, speechless!!!

I did however get the last word in by telling a club director to be sure to let him know who it was that made the formal complaint and if needed I’ll see them all at the next club meeting to deal with safety violations!!!
