Absolutely gorgeous bird Dirthawker.

I reckon falconry is about the most fascinating form of hunting there is because it is animal against animal with minimal human input. Although, I will always look forward to pulling the trigger and harvesting game myself.

As Mike and Joe said mate...keep us informed.

Cheers, Vince

well yesterday was her first free flight. we walked around for a lil bit and she made a few little chases on some sparrows but didnt connect to any. she did do well though at the end of the night I served her a bobwhite quail and she grabbed it in a cactus. all in all it was a good day and she is coming along nicely. will try to get some new pics tonight I think she will be ready to go again.

well we went out again yesterday she flew well but didnt seem to want to chase the quail. she did how ever chase the LBJs. think she just needs to have a lil more time just flying. now that I have been flying her she seems to have calmed down a bit. I did do a full flighted baggie with her and she caught it in grand style. her manners on the kill are great and no aggression at all.

as for flying her today we wont be flying. this is because I am going down tonight to go trap a new harris hawk

well I went out over the weekend and got me a new harris hawk and came back home and hunted neha last night. will get some pics of the harris up soon but here is some of last night.

well last night started the age of killing. Neha weighed 367 at 3:00 and Forrest and I where going to go fly my coop and his gos. it was supposed to be my day to fly first and he gets the prime time at the end of the night. but his bird had dropped more weight than he had wanted and we had to get his out real quick. we chased a bunch of quail and bunnies and 2 jacks with the gos. but for some stupid reason the bird only chased the game that was running into the wind. we finnally decided to go back to the truck and get Neha out.

we got her out and started walking the field again but most of the quail had moved out of the area and we where only getting some singles. we also had run into a few CTs but she had no real interest in them. we had been walking around for about an hour when I hear that sound that you never like to hear in the field. about 15 ft in front of us was a 4ft rattler. we quickly moved in another direction well out of the area of the snake and resumed hunting. then Forrest says to me (quick I just saw a CT slink into this bush). so I round this bush and the bunny tried to book it out of there. I guess Neha on the other hand had different ideas for this bunny. she rounds the next bush crashes gets back up crashes 10 ft from the first and gets back up and crashes a third time about 10 ft from that after doing a barrel role to connect to the bunnies head. I then here that joyous sound. I run in and pull her out bunny in tow. reached in dispatched it and opened it up for her. her manners on the kill are great, and she is stone quiet in the field. she is turning out good. now for some pics.

well I went out this weekend with a friend john and we did some HH trapping. we got me a nice male first thing in the morning. we had a good time and johns new apprentice went with us and got his first indoctrination into being a falconer. he got to see the bird trapped, socked, and taped. and if that wasnt enough we drove around some more to try to find another HH and the bird crapped on him within 45 mins LOL. I still havent come up with a name but have been thinking.

Got freinds in Payson, Surpise etc. Neat area.

Love the pics and updates. That is a very intimate type of hunting.

I love ratpors but know very little about them.

We have two mating redtails, as far as I can tell, in the park acrross the street and they fledged and couple wee-ones. Mom was trying to learn them some stuff in our driveway between the buildings in some clean air last year. It was pretty cool.
