This is my first year using the 150 grain, Berger bullet for my .270 Winchester. Before I go out and harvest any game with the bullet, I would like to get some information on your bullet performance. Do you like the bullet?

havent tried that bullet. the speer grand slam 150grn is good on deer. my old smoke pipe shot real good with 160grn lapuas which i believe were made with moose in mind.

Bergers are becoming ever so popular these days. Especially with the long range crowd.

The VLd's do have a high BC and they exhibit the following characteristic. They penetrate like a full metal jacket the first 1.5-2" and then expand like nuts dumping most if not all of the energy inside the animal.
Exit wounds are a rarity here.

They do real well in deer and antelope according to those who use them.

That said.... I would not use them on moose elk and bear.

In fact I would not use them or any other match bullet on game.
The following are my personal reasons why.
There is a plethora of fine bullets out there premiums and non which I personally would rather use. Smack a bull moose with a 150 or 160 Partition in the shoulder and he will drop like a load of lumber and most likely provide me with an exit wound which I so much desire.
Again my opinion and my prerequisites for choosing hunting bullets.

Keep one thing in mind about Berger bullets: They now make both hunting and match bullets !!!

Be sure everyone in the discussion is on the same page. I've seen guys argue the issue and didn't even know Berger was making the hunting version.

221.
I was talking about the "hunting" version. The other version according to Berger has a much thicker jacket and will not, or is not likely to expand.

lol...guess she knows what works. I wasn't impressed with the performance of the bullet passed 200 yards... Rem. 130 Core-lokt. One of my friends got me interested in shooting long range targets...u know...the movie called "Beyond Belief"...I'm hooked on shooting long range targets now.
