A friend and I visited three gun shops this morning. I ended up with some .380 Critical Defense, 175 rounds of Federal 12 ga 00 buck for $100, some 12 ga "buck and ball" (one 0.65" lead ball and six #1 buckshot) made by Centurion and a new pistol cleaning rod.

3 in one day would be sensory overload for me, I'd need a smoke and a nap!

Dang, that's a heck of a shopping trip with good deals. I too have reloaded some 12ga .065 ball and 5 buck #1, never tried 6. And they do awesome at close range. Good shopping.

Stovey, I bet there are dozens of small gun shops within an hour's drive of here, not to mention the Gander Mountains, Bass Pro Shop and Walmarts, etc.

I knew it was used during the Civil War. It is referenced in several books about Gettysburg. One Union unit that helped repulse "Pickett's Charge" broke their buck and ball loads down and loaded only the buckshot, 12 to 15 buckshot per load. I'll have to try it sometime in my repro 1842 Springfield.
