25 Remington

Anyone here have info on reloading 25 remington. I have a friend that bought one back in 1964 and got the last 3 boxes of ammo in the county he lived in. I am mainly looking for a source of round or flat nose bullets for him.

So when you think I can help with measuring something...

I think Lyman has a 89 gr RN mould for that round.
Or you take a spitser (FMJ?) and put it upside down in the case. Then you get a short round doing not bad at all at short distances with a big stopping effect. A kind of small caliber bush-hunting round.

If you can't find any, what if you file the top off spizters? Couldn't be too hard to make a die to get a consistent flat point.

now that's something I wouldn't recommend. I've been there and you know where you can find the jacket of your bullet when you blow the lead core out of the jacket? And what would happen when you shoot next round with such a jacket still somewhere in the barrel?

I have a couple of manuals with loads for 3031, 4227, and 4759. Also an ADI manual with AR2208 (Varget). I can post a scanned image if you want it

TLO, Speer makes a 75 grain flat soft point bullet in 0.257" diameter for rifles and 25-20 for pistols.
Hornady used to make a 60 grain soft point.

The 25 Auto uses 50 grain bullets but the diameter is only 0.251" and although they are round nose they are also full metal jacket.

Montana Bullets makes a hard cast gas checked 111 grain bullet of the correct size. Load it to lead specs and away you go. They also make .257 bullets if OAL is an issue.

He would like to stick with the 80 something grain range and it has to be round or flat nose for the same reason 30-30 is. I mentioned spire point and only having one in the chamber and one in the tube but he is like I am and wants the max legal amount for hunting in his gun for here which is 5 just to be on the safe side. I have never needed a second shot but you just never know and I would like to be sure to stop a wounded animal rather than let it suffer or even stop a bear or cougar after downing another animal. Anyway I have load data but need bullets. They are on back order through midway but I told him I would look for other options when I got the chance.
