I might have posted this under jokes, but it is not really funny. In any case, I believe that the vast majority of us HNut's share to a greater or lesser extent the same dark opinion of politicians, and governments.

We may banter back and forth about particular current issues that we find more or less deplorable, and at times even take exception to what each of us says and perhaps how we say it. But, that is because there is so much evil government cr-p going on, smoke and mirrors, don't look at my left hand because my right hand is far more important.

When Israel was complaining that they needed a King here’s what God said.

“This will be the behavior of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots. He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, will set some to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and some to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers. And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give them to his servants. He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants. And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men, and your donkeys, and put them to his work. He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants. And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the LORD will not hear you in that day.”

Well he was right only it is worse.

Anyway mankind has for thousands of years used humor and satire to point out the failings of politicians and governments and as I said before I could have posted this in jokes, but is it really that funny. I hope you enjoy----

The word 'politics' is derived from the word 'poly', meaning 'many', and the word 'ticks', meaning 'blood sucking parasites'. Larry Hardiman

“Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.” Ronald Reagan

'The government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it'. Ronald Reagan

Today's public figures can no longer write their own speeches or books, and there is some evidence that they can't read them either. Gore Vidal

'In politics, absurdity is not a handicap'. Napoleon Bonaparte.

On my arrival in the United States I was struck by the degree of ability among the governed and the lack of it among the governing.' Alexis de Toqueville

'You can fool all of the people all of the time if the advertising is right and the budget is big enough.' Joseph Levine

Don't vote. You'll only encourage them. Unknown.
A (politician’s) lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes. Mark Twain

Now and then an innocent man is sent to the legislature. Kin Hubbard

When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators. PJ O'Rourke

Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can find a rock. Will Rogers

What happens if a politician drowns in a river?
That is pollution.
What happens if all of them drown?
That is solution!!!

We hang petty thieves and appoint the great thieves to public office. Aesop, Greek slave & fable author.

Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber. Plato, ancient Greek Philosopher.

When I was a boy I was told that anybody could become President; I'm beginning to believe it. Quoted in 'Clarence Darrow for the Defense' by Irving Stone.

Politicians are people who, when they see light at the end of the tunnel, go out and buy some more tunnel. John Quinton, American actor/writer.
Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich, by promising to protect each from the other. Oscar Ameringer, "the Mark Twain of American Socialism."

I offered my opponents a deal: "if they stop telling lies about me, I will stop telling the truth about them". Adlai Stevenson, campaign speech, 1952.

A politician is a fellow who will lay down your life for his country. Texas Guinan. 19th century American businessman.

I have come to the conclusion that politics is too serious a matter to be left to the politicians. - Charles de Gaulle, French general & politician.

Instead of giving a politician the keys to the city, it might be better to change the locks. Doug Larson (English middle-distance runner who won gold medals at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris 1902-1981).

Ahh, Lester...that is probably the best and most honest description of a pollitician that I have ever read mate. Well done.

This one I love...I offered my opponents a deal: "if they stop telling lies about me, I will stop telling the truth about them"
