Welcome aboard acssa...from the looks if things you certainly know your hunting mate. Grab a beer and pull up a stump, you're more than welcome at our fire.

Feel free to jump in with your experience mate, we are a friendly bunch who enjoy a good laugh at each other's expense, and we are happy to learn from the experience if others. Well done Slim with your recommendation mate.

acssa and I have been IM'ing on the 6.8 forum about the .270 and his challlenge of using monolithic bullets. I told him we were world-wide and he should join us. Thanks for being our 11782 member, acssa!

BTW, Vince is always generous about handing out the brew.

Elvis, don't start by giving him bad advice. Any normal man will admit that the .270 caliber has no real reasons to live. Why a caliber between 6,5 and 7 mm? Look at the available bulletweights...

And yes I do own a .270 Win but I almost never use it. When you do 3 shots on the range, the barrel is that hot you have to wait half a day before it will give you a decent groupe again...
compaired to my 'varminter' in 7 mm RM, the .270 Win will loose over all tests except the weight of the rifle and it's energy demands to transport it when you're on footh...

just putting some spirits on the fire Smile

I have to agree, but for myself I jumped over it from .308 Win straight to .300 WM. And my favourit in .308 is still the 30/30 Win. For that caliber I even wear my hat Smile

Well Bushy, I don't want to split this frog hair to fine, but it can be used two ways. One is an inquiry into why a person is in a bad mood, "who licked the red off your candy" The other as a warning to avoid being upset by what people say or think, "don't let them lick the red off your candy".

Gotta run now I'm busier than a one legged cat in a sandbox, gotta cook up a batch of chicken lips and grits for dinner.
