thought about this one long and hard over the years...
since high school some 30ish years ago I have refused to be pidgeon holed into a catagory to suit a census and make someones job easy.
Im a KIWI a 27th generstion crossbred one at that.
we can trace back ansestory on many sides both maori and from other places.
I refuse to be called/labeled an european...Ive never been to europe, neither have my parents....
the very term racist is not correct...we are all of the HUMAN RACE..... skin colour is just that
if you dislike someone because of the colour of thier skin does that make you a colourist??? or is that the girl down at the salon who does grannys hair the nice shade of blue
tribalist might fit in Africa where you are zulu or xhosa etc etc.....maybe to some extent it might here, ngati this or that but thats not rasicm thats tribalism.....you are who you associate/live amoung
anti foreigner....again not racist, you dislike someone because of the country they come from....yeah nah thats a bit daft.......seeing some of the driving through mackenzie country can and does lead to a PREDUDISE to some extent...but when you see certain behaviours time and again from mostly a certain group of tourists...its understandable...but I still dont tar all with same brush. just most who are in campervans or juicy rentals WHATEVER colour thier bums might be...the term road maggot covers campervans quite well...white and wiggle all over the road at slow pace
Im not a white man...my bum might be pale but (no pun intended)that only because it doesnt see the sun.....if it did the colour would go as brown as my right arm does each summer....leaning out window of car/truck.
religous persuasion...again not racism....its your personal belief......I might believe you are wrong or misled but thats your choice, keep it to yourself and dont try to ram it down anyones throat and we will get on OK. I believe what I believe ...live and let live is fine n dandy UNTILL you try to change my way of life...then I may speak up,after due consideration and consultation with wiser heads than my own.
sexual orientation....again I might not agree with you and believe you are wrong...but thats your choice, your decision as long as you arent trying to force another to your will,so be it....and that might go against my faith but Im big enough and certainly ugly enough to live with that.
you know its funny in a way the termanology the dark skinned people of america have used for them selves over the years and just how much it has changed...what was normal and ok for one generation was considered an insult be the next and vice versa...but then thats just a label too. cal me this call me that, call me whatever you like just not late for breakfast
this wonderful country we live in is constantly changing, the demographic of the population (hows that for a wheelbarrow word ) is different from 20 years ago and very different from 50-100 years before that... folk have resisted change all of that time, some better than others, some really badly...some have just got on with life and what will be will be.....I put myself in the last group,I might bitch n moan about the changes I see at times, but try to get along with my fellow man no matter where they came from and when...if you are a good bugga, thats good enough for me.
I spent my highschool years in Taumarunui so Ive seen the good the bad and the ugly of all sorts of folk.Ive worked on Timaru wharves and seen what goes on with fishing trawler crews Ive worked with Cambodian refugees who fled from the killing fields...Nepalees who came here for a better life ,Irish who just want to be able to work and earn a living and Indian folk who want a better standard of life for thier kids. some of all have been good, some bad and some ugly.
we are all humans folks...that IS our race.

Love it Mike
Good on you for airing this.
I too have the same belief.
Our race is human.

Elvis, good words deep in thought. I'm curious, what event caused you to sit down and pen those thoughts to paper? A particular news story?

got acused of being racist on another forum was the tipping point.... going to bible study group with other men has been a very good thing for my personal growth...keeps me in line and makes me look at myself diferently. there is a lot of hate around at the moment with the gun grab/confiscation going on and tempers flare quite often on shooting forums, people are tense and worried some lash out. what got someone to think I was a racist was a post along the lines of this..
Eugene and Jicinda are racist and anti immigration (PM and mimister for concervation) there is a group in NZ who were invited to ome and live here, there parents and grandparents did so and have blended into our way of life, they are in danger of being whiped out in thier homeland yet these people in power are more than happy to see them gunned down and left to rot,the people doing the slaughter are using the very firearms the govt is taking off the rest of the civilian population . this group has done nothing wrong, they have come here and blended into the KIWI way of life and go about thier business and yet they are being persecuted...thats anti immigration and racist...just because they arent of our race doesnt make them lesser.
it was tongue in cheek...I was referring to the himalayian thar which DEPT OF CON has just finished shooting 10,000 of from choppers. all I have typed above fits perfectly with them.
we as a nation brought them here
they have been here for many generations
they have settled in and become part of kiwi landscape
because they "arent native" they are wanted whiped out by the rabid greenie element in power.
yes I knew when I typed it it could be controversial but thought surely anyone with 2% of a brain would join the dots
I actually believe its not a bad angle to use in keeping the herds alive.....
any way God bless you all,its a glorious day we should rejoice and be glad in it.....take the time to stop and smell a rose....its there for just and only that reason.

no roses are native to NZ and the colour spectrum is covered by the rose breeders..... daffodils and johnquills in particular are my favourite flowers them and snowdrops bring back happy childhood memories, they are very hardy and will grow in sheepyards getting trampled into mud each winter and yet they pop up again in spring....God knew what he was doing when he made them.
