With my CZ .22 I'm playing 5 shots to find which ammo it likes, after about 20 types of ammo and having to drag my sorry ass down to the range about 6 times now the answer is Winchester Power point hollow points (the new ones) and it gives .487" at 50 mtr for 5 shots well within minute of rabbit head..

Have you tried CCI Blazer ammo? - It's inexpensive and most 22's shoot surprisingly tight groups with it. I had tried many brands of premium and match ammo. A friend insisted that Blazer was about the best. When I finally tried it, I found 5 of the 6 22 rifles stored here at my house like it a lot.

Not yet, I've tried about 5 different CCI types and found velocitors worker the best of those, the others both hi vel and sub sonic just didnt work that well.
I havent seen any Blazers out here yet I'll try a pack if I find any.

The Blazers are out here Pete...Cleavers I think had some.
Most accurate I found in my "go to" .22s were Remington Sub Sonics, which doesn't really surprise me as most rimfire rifles perform better with sub sonic rounds. My Krico prefers Winchester Power Point HP though, and as that is my primary bunny gun, then thats the diet it gets fed. With my rimfires I prefer to shoot 5 shot groups because it doesn't seem to matter, hot, cold, fouled, clean barrel...it doesn't make a difference, and shooting five bullets is more fun than shooting three.

Strange you were unable to find a CCI .22 round that didn't work in your rifle. My Winchester M290 works and shoots the best with CCI Mini-Mags. Both the 36 grain HP and 40 grain solids. For those pesky lawn diggers I use the HPs and for food gathering, the solids.

When developing new reloaded ammo for a rifle new to me, I do not shoot it when the wind is blowning. The rifle is shot off a bench rest with forearm and but rests. The ammo is shot slowley with the target set at 100 yards. I load twenty rounds with four different powder loads ,that is five shots with the same powder weight. Should I get large vertical, horzontial or scattered groups my next step is to take the stock off the rifle and look for poor action bedding and stock forarm barrel contact points. If I dont like what I v found I glass bed the action, free float the barrel, and adjust the trigger pull. I also look at the bolt locking lugs and muzzle to see if both locking lugs are contacting the action and if the muzzle is damaged or poorly cut and if so have a gunsmith correct the problem. After tuning up the rifle I then repeat the twenty round test and use the two best groups for the free bore tests. The free bore ,bullet jump, is varried with three rounds with the same over all length with five different lengths. After finding the reload I like I go hunting but each fall before going big game hunting I fire three rounds to see if there is any change.

I like to shoot 5 shot groups. Be it for sighting in or load development.

I shoot 2-shot groups because anymore would be a waste of bullets. Here is my target yesterday checking my rig before next week's deer hunt.

The only times that a first shot or cold shot is important is when a sniper is making a shot or a hunter that has cleaned his rifle and not fouled it. Both shooters have to know with certainty where the cold shot will go and where his follow-up shots will go. I have my offset for the cold shot marked on my scope for varmint hunting.
Bushy, I believe that I need a T3...thank God that we live in countries where we still have access to hunting lands.

These shots are all from a cold barrel but I never go into the field with a clean barrel. A shot from my clean barrel has a significant POI shit. I always take my Tikka to the range with me and shoot 2 shots and track velocity and POI throughout the year. Gives me confidence in my configuration and what to expect.

I agree that two shots is fine for checking sights/fouling a clean barrel but when working up a load more are needed to see how consistent it is.
Plus it's an excuse to shoot more.....

I have found it only takes two shots to determine a bad load and 5 to 10 to determine one worth persuing. Thus in the beginning, I use 2-shot OCW to conserve bullets and powder. Then zero in on a smaller range where I can were fine powder adjustment with 3- or 5-shot groups. I can start with a box of 50 and still have some to hunt with when I'm done.
