inthedark,

If the Chinese market is clean, or well maintained, its not really a "legit" Chinese market. Bare that in mind if a white guy tells you that there is a "good Chinese market" to you. Very Happy

My friend who recommended it is Chinese. I have done too many inspections of resturants and other markets to be fooled. As a general rule, if it isn't recommended by someone I trust and is knowledgible, like the health inspectors or one of my counterparts, I don't frequent the establishment.

You are a food inspector?

Fishery Officers and Conservation Officers both do Fishery Act Section 61 inspections of any place that sells fish or fish products. The reference for you is Fisheries Act R.S. c.F-14, s. 1, Sec 61 and it will explain what it is all about. There is overlap between fisheries, environment, public health, CFIA, police, etc. We eventually get to know all of the other people who are in the same line of inspection/enforcement or associated professions and share information.

That is neat.

Well, if you come closer to the downtown, to where you get tons of Chinese coming and going, well the places they frequent are rather at the minimum standards I'd imagine, as they once and a while have stickers that they got warnings on their windows every once and a while that they have "violations to fix". ROFL

I can imagine, ITD come to Chinatown, and a bunch of Chinese runs all over the place,
like roach in a commercial kitchen at night...

This is the area, typical in the afternoon. Tends to get busier on a weekend afternoon though to the point, it can be compared to like wading through a sea of people shoulder to shoulder instead of the luxurious space you see in the video.

Geland!
You made my bucket list!
I am in tears.
I keeeel youuuuuu.
You must have been on my shoulder a couple of times when I was doing this work because you hit the nail on the head.
I once, went to a chinese market at an oriental mall in Markham off Hwy 7 (Dimitri will know this area) for an inspection.
I stepped into the store and the people that were there, were going for daylight.
It was spellbinding.
I couldn't believe it.
My partner from MNR Conservation just laughed at my shocked expression.

The Eastern Part of Hwy 7 has quite a number of Chinese markets, and they are all the same. ROFL

Mind you they are much newer and nicer then the ones in Chinatown in the downtown.
