Yes Mac...110 KPH is the posted speed limit. It was only a couple of years ago that in one of our States (well, a Territory actually, not quite a State) that the speed limit was open...no limit at all once you were beyond City limits.

Troubles...usually you will find nice fresh green shoots of grass on the edges of the road, whereas the grass doesn't seem to survive further out. That's about all I can think of that they are eating. Maybe is a bit of moisture run-off from dew etc that helps the grass grow there...not really sure mate. All I do know is that roos are a pain in the butt on the sides of the road, especially from dusk till dawn.

Cheers, Vince

Your center line isn't yellow?? The solid in the curve should be a double and then it shouldn't go from intermittents to a double, there should be a right .................. ah .......... oh, Embarassed .... well I guess it's your way of painting lines and not ours. The lines are nice and bright...! Smile Smile
Yep I bet those Roos would do some damage to a grille or fender or whatever!!

They did away with the yellow paint many years ago here...don't know why, but it's gone. I agree with your marking for the curve...should be a "double", either intermittent and solid or double solid, depending on the road after the curve.

Oh yeah...a solid hit on a roo will do a massive amount of damage...even from a small roo. A roo will go through the grill, through the radiator and take out the fan and anything else on the front of the motor. Nowhere near as bad as hitting a deer though...or a horse or cow. I hit a small roo with an Army Landrover fitted with a 2 inch thick steel tube roo bar. Bent the bar back about 10 inches and ripped a rear leg off the roo...but it was still alive...till I got to it that is.

You definitely do not want to hit a roo.

Yep...that's a magpie mate. Ripe bananas eh...have to give that one a try.

Can the kids hand feed them yet? It will be a real thrill for them when they can.

not yet but we get within 3-4 mtrs before they move off. one of my work mates told me when the quarry pit over the road was in full swing 30+ years ago the fellas had the magpies so tame they would pinch the truck drivers lunches!!! so I guess these ones are distant decendants.

Yep...they are cheeky buggers mate. I have one here that will come inside into the kitchen looking for something to eat if I leave the door open. If I sit at the table outside, I can get a couple of them to jump up onto my knee and take meat.
